What does an interior designer do?

An interior designer brings the interior of a home to life, taking into account the functionality of the space, the occupants of the home and your desired aesthetic. Their role is to listen to all your wants and needs, whether that relates to budget, timeframe, or lifestyle; the goal is to fit the brief and turn that interior dream into a reality. Depending on the scope of work, the interior designer will ensure your project is completed with best practice installation and execution.

What is my interior design style?

Choosing an interior design style can be daunting, especially when you might like characteristics from a number of different aesthetics. At KWD&Co. we work with a wide variety of design styles, from Hamptons-style to Modern Farmhouse and from Palm Springs to Caribbean Colonial, Mid Century Modern and Contemporary Coastal. A consultation with the KWD&Co. team will help guide your design direction based on the location of your property, the site, the architectural style of the home, and features you love most.

What geographical area do you service?

Whilst we are based in Victoria, online consultations ensure there are no geographical limitations. We can service home-owners worldwide.

What types of projects do you specialise in?

We specialise in design, in whatever form or direction that may take. We have the vision to make your dream a reality. Our particular areas of excellence include space planning, joinery design and materiality, across a wide array of aesthetics from Modern Farmhouse and Lakehouse to Palm Springs and Caribbean Colonial, and everything in between.

What is the difference between KWD and KWD&Co.?

We want to make it possible for everyone to experience the KWD love so we created KWD&Co. to give you affordable access to a designer via our express online store.

Can I pay extra for a site visit?

We will happily arrange a site visit for you. Please let us know if this is a service you are interested in and we can discuss timing, scope and fees.

Does KWD have a minimum project size?

No project is too big or too small, we love bringing a client’s vision to life whether it’s a container holiday house or a multi-generational home. The budget will vary, but the passion and commitment to creating a beautiful end result doesn’t waiver.

What methods can I pay with?

We accept Mastercard, Visa and EFT. Please note all payment by credit card will incur a 1.5% surcharge.

How does KWD&Co. offer affordable, luxury, interior design?

We offer expert advice that will lead you in the right direction, without executing the actual project itself. How can I be sure I am getting the best design advice?

What services do you offer?

KWD&Co. is an online portal that offers a considered range of tiles, timber flooring, stone, carpet and rugs. KWD&Co. Access is an express design solution. We offer two tailored consultations to suit your design needs. So whether you’re undertaking a simple DIY and want to work out which aesthetic to use, or if you need colour advice, or want the very best navy subway tile for your kitchen splashback, we’ve made design easy with KWD&Co. And if you’re looking for a more custom solution and want access to the KWD team, or if you want a full design service for the length of your project, there’s a KWD solution for you.

I live locally, can I come into your studio instead of an online KWD&Co. consultation?

We wish we could invite you all into the studio and meet you in person but sadly we have to keep the Access consultations to online only.

I don't feel I need a full hour. Can I possibly purchase a shorter Access consultation?

We only offer one hour blocks sadly. Trust us when we say that the hour is needed and you will possibly come away wanting more time with us, rather than less.

Do I need to take notes during my Access consultation?

Sit back and relax. Your designer will be supported by an additional KWD staff member who will note down everything discussed. The notes will be emailed to you within 2 business days of your appointment and will include all recommendations and details of product specifications made during the consultation. Depending on your project scope, notes may also include basic joinery sketches, plan mark ups and furniture layout recommendations.

What do I receive after paying the $1,500?

Once you have paid for your consultation you will receive a confirmation email, along with our questionnaire which helps us dive into your project and understand what you are wanting to achieve/resolve during our one hour consultation.

Following your consultation, you will receive summary notes. These will be emailed to you within 2 business days of your appointment. Your notes will include all recommendations and details of product specifications made during your consultation.

Depending on your project scope, notes may also include basic joinery sketches, plan mark ups and furniture layout. If hard finish selections have been made during your consultation, you will also receive a sample box which may include paint colours, KWD&Co. tiles, carpet and timber flooring. We do not provide samples of slabs/stone, some fabrics, wallpapers and laminates.

I am only after exterior colours, outdoor lights, window styles etc. Can you still help me?

Of course! First impressions count and we love to work from the outside in. We can advise you on exterior finishes and fittings to achieve your desired aesthetic.

I am wanting to design my whole house, but over 3 or 4 Accesses, can I get the same designer for each consultation?

Yes, you will be appointed the same designer for each consultation to ensure consistency and efficiency. In subsequent consultations, you will be able to dive straight in to where you left off.

Do I get samples of all the products the designer recommends?

We provide samples of paint colours and KWD&Co. tiles, carpet and timber flooring. We do not provide samples of slabs, some fabrics, wallpapers and laminate.

Can I get some advice on just one room only - the kitchen?

Whether it's one room or a whole house, we are happy to assist.

Can I email you after my consultation with more questions?

If you require further clarification on anything in your consultation notes, we are here to help.

Additional questions that aren't directly related to the focus of your consultation will require booking a subsequent consultation.

We suggest sending all your questions in point form to us prior to your consultation so we can work methodically through your list and make the most out of your home.

Do I have to source the products myself that KWD&Co. specify?

Your designer will make product selections from our KWD&Co. library, most of which can be purchased directly through us. Once you receive your sample box, we can provide quotes accordingly. For other products, we will link you up with our preferred suppliers to purchase directly through them.

What if I don't know what style I want?

That's why we are here! Along with your questionnaire, we ask you to send through plans and inspiration pictures or a Pinterest board link so we can help you hone in on a style and achieve cohesiveness throughout your home.

Can I have help with furniture design?

During an Access consultation, we can certainly guide you towards furniture styles/colours/fabrics and layout, but not specific furniture selection. Furniture design and selection is extremely time consuming and intricate, and thus is only offered through our KWD Custom channel.

How should I prepare for my access consultation?

Once you have purchased your consultation, you will receive a questionnaire that will give your designer insight into your project. Please complete and upload the questionnaire, along with plans and your inspiration pictures. These documents will form the brief for your designer. The more concise you can be at this stage, the more you will get out of your consultation.

How does an Access consultation work?

Access consultations take place via Microsoft Teams and you will receive a link to your meeting prior to your consultation. It's very simple to set up. Our designers collaborate with you, and each consultation is a unique, tailored experience. An additional member of the KWD&Co. team sits in on the meeting to take notes of everything that is discussed. This means you can relax, enjoy the KWD experience and immerse yourself in the discussion without having to worry about stopping to take notes.

What can be achieved in an Access consultation?

Our designers are well versed in designing spaces and as a result are very efficient in making decisions and choices for your home. We strongly encourage you to spend the time preparing your initial documents to make the most out of your consulation. We believe you will be surprised at what can be achieved in an hour!

Can you help me with smaller details like grout colours and paint colours?

Most definitely! In fact, it's the small details that can make all the difference.

Can you help with window furnishings?

Yes, we can. This may include style, fabric selection and associated hardware.

Do you offer a discount on products for KWD&Co. Access clients?

We are able to offer a Designer Discount on products from some of our suppliers.

Can I purchase recommended products from KWD&Co.?

Yes, you can. Your designer can make selections from our vast product range and will advise when these products can be purchased through us using our designer discount.

What if I am using a volume builder. Will I still benefit from an Access consultation?

Definitely. We have many clients come to us to help elevate their volume build from stock standard to a custom feel.

What if none of your advertised times and dates work for me?

What is your cancellation and reschedule policy?

You can cancel or reschedule your consultation up to 72 hours beforehand for a full refund. To cancel or reschedule your consultation, please email us at style@kwdandco.com.au

What if one hour isn't enough time to cover everything on my list?

Sometimes one hour just isn't enough! If this is the case for your project, we suggest booking another consultation. You can book as many as you need.

What topics can be covered during an Access consultation?

We can discuss space planning, exterior design, hard finish selections including fixtures and trims. Paint/wall treatments and drapery. Floor plan layout/furniture placement and treasured styling advice.

Can I invite guests to the Access consultation?

Yes, providing you are all physically together sharing the same screen. If you do wish to invite additional guests, please advise us prior to your consultation.

What type of device should I use for the Access consultation?

We suggest using a desktop or laptop for your consultation.

Do I need to download the Microsoft Teams App?

You can join a Teams meeting anytime, from any device, whether or not you have a Teams account. After clicking the Teams link, you will have the choice to download the windows app, or join on the web instead. If you choose to join the meeting on the web, you will use the web-based version of Microsoft Teams.

Can I record my Access consultation?

We do not allow for Access consultations to be recorded. You will be provided with a full set of notes taken during your consultation by a member of our team.

Can I purchase an Access consultation as a gift?

Absolutely!

Can I change my mind part way through a consultation and change to a different package?

If we recognize once we go down the Access consultation route with you, that you require a different kind of KWD attention, then we can transfer you across to become a custom client if you wish.

How long after my Access consultation will I get my samples?

Your box of gorgeous samples will arrive within 7-10 business days. Sometimes we need to order additional samples from our suppliers, so if we expect any delays, we will let you know.

What are your delivery costs and time frames?

A freight quote and lead times will be provided based on the product and quantity that is ordered.

Do you deliver Interstate?

We happily deliver to all of Australia.

Can I pop into your Mount Martha studio and collect my order from you in person?

Sadly no. Please sit tight and your beautiful products will be delivered to your doorstep.

Do I need to be home to receive my order?

Yes, you are required to be at home to sign for your delivery.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

Goods can sometimes be damaged in transit. In the rare case you receive damaged goods, please email us within 24 hours to resolve this issue.

What product do you recommend to clean my tiles???

The best cleaners to use are PH neutral! And clean often. This will ensure there is no buildup of dirt and grime on your grout and tiles.

Be cautious when using products from the grocery store as products that claim to be "all purpose" may contain harsh chemicals that can damage your tiles and grout.

Can you share any tips regarding maintenance of my tiles and grout????

We suggest sealing your grout. While your porcelain & ceramic tiles don't require sealing, it's a good idea to seal your grout. While it will make your cleaning routine easier, don’t fall into the trap of believing it will eliminate the need for maintenance all together. Selecting lighter coloured tiles and grout may require more maintenance.????
